SALLY ROGERSON
SALLY ROGERSON is a leading educator and stylist passionate about providing high-quality and accessible modern salon education. Sally’s passion for fashion, music and art naturally led her towards a career in hairdressing. After joining the Vidal Sassoon at the age of 16, Sally worked her way up through the organization and was eventually named the Creative Director of the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London. Ten years later Sally was promoted to the role of Senior Creative Director of the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Los Angeles.
During her twenty years with Vidal Sassoon, Sally worked as a stylist, educator, international brand ambassador, and platform artist where she created industry trends for editorial shoots. Passionate about designing programs and classes that speak to the unique needs of salons, stylists and cosmetology schools, in 2010 Sally struck out on her own and opened SR Education. Founded on the principles of high-quality, modern and relevant hair education through a personalized and hands-on approach, SR Education provided advanced classes and training programs for existing stylists and recent graduates. In 2020 Sally opened the SR Academy in Scottsdale, AZ focused on hairstyling licensure courses.
Throughout her years as an educator and mentor Sally has helped to inspire a legion of highly respected and influential hairdressers who value the role continuing education plays in the mastery of their craft. She is excited to partner with Shannon Rha in the SR Hair Society Salon and Academy, where her commitment to modern, relevant and accessible education will continue to inspire the next generation of stylists.
SHANNON RHA
Shannon Rha exudes tenacity, excellence, and discipline in everything she puts her mind to. As a young girl growing up in Korea, she always knew it would take more than just passion to be successful. Hard work and dedication would be necessary to achieve her goals. She began her professional life as a plastic surgery nurse, but after moving to the United States she made the decision to transition into the beauty industry and entered cosmetology school as a 30 year-old mother of two.
After beauty school, Shannon fine-tuned the techniques she had learned and began developing her own style. She soon opened her own salon, Shannon Hair, in Valencia, CA starting off with 9 chairs and 4 team members. Over the years, that has more than doubled. Shannon believes education is an essential way to stay relevant and ahead of the curve. In order to continue to grow and perfect her craft, she continued to attend classes and workshops. As a result, she co-founded an education series called Workshop Evolve, which was first introduced as an in-house program to further develop the stylists working at Shannon Hair. Seeing the success in-house, they made a decision to expand their audience beyond their own salon and shared their signature techniques with others. She recently expanded upon this program and started her own workshop series. Her goal is always to create courses that focused on a specialized technique and helps hairstylists fine-tune their skills in order to execute services with greater confidence and superior results.
It was her commitment to education that led Shannon to meet Sally when she was a student in one of Sally’s classes. Shannon has always seen Sally as a role model and mentor, so to be starting the SR Hair Society together feels like a dream come true. As Sally and Shannon work to grow the SR Hair Society, she is looking forward to merging her past experiences with fresh ideas and techniques that will elevate her expertise as an educator, stylist, and salon owner.
